THEATRE: Johnson to play Ken in John Logan's 'Red'
This June, Light in a Jar Productions will be producing 'RED' by John Logan. Directed by Lilli Hokama from Denver, Colorado.
What do you see when you look at my work? What do you feel? These questions electrified famed abstract expressionist painter: Mark Rothko. RED explores the compelling and vulnerable relationship between an artist and his creations as he fights for relevance in the art community. In 1958, Rothko was commissioned to paint murals for the Seagram’s Four Seasons Hotel, the most expensive commission since the Sistine Chapel. When a talented young apprentice, Ken, is hired to help— Rothko’s ego and brilliance collide with a new generation who is ready to push the master aside. Winner of the 2010 Drama League Award and six Tony Awards, including Best Play, this vivid 90-minute performance tackles the mystery of how one man’s work can touch another man’s soul.
Featuring: Daniel Main and Aaron Johnson from Salem, Indiana.
Performances are June 4 & 5 at 7:30 and June 7 at 2:00 at the Salem Middle School Performing Arts Center.
Admission is donation only.
